Quite the celebration!

Thanks to everyone who helped Miss Ginger celebrate her birthday in style last night! If you missed the party, we started at In n Out for beers and more beers. Thanks to Sonna's gracious invites the bar was packed with people coming to wish Miss G a happy day, so of course she was on cloud nine! After that it was off to Cavatore's for some more drinking and some Eye-talian food to soak some of it up! We had left vehicles at In n Out,  so since we had to go back and get them we might as well go back in for a nightcap, right?

Miss Ginger didn't feel so good this morning!

But, she had to be a warrior and push through the fog- both literally and figuratively.  You see,  the new car bug has bitten Miss G.  Bad. She has been driving her trusty old truck for 9 years,  so it's really time for some new wheels.  And our gurl has decided she wants flashy European wheels.  Topless flashy European wheels.  So back to the fog.  As Miss G stumbles through a beer induced fog of her own,  she goes outside to feed Nog and sees that the weather is grey, foggy,  and cold.  Not the weather she ordered to test drive her Euro dream mobiles.  But she pushed on anyway,  bundling up in a few extra layers and heading out the freeway to the dealerships.  Then something amazing happened just as she passed the Galleria.  Within seconds,  the fog lifted and Miss G was blessed with one of those glorious,  thank-your-lucky-stars-you're-in-Texas kind of days that we get this time of year! It was a beautiful day!  So she cruised and cruised with the top up, top down, on the freeway, off the freeway.. yadda yadda yadda!  Poor gurl drove her ass off! And she STILL can't decide!  So please,  help her out!  Should she go for

the super-sleek,  finely crafted BMW 335i,

or the solid-as-a-rock, ultra reliable Volvo C70

Both are made in Europe,  have retractable hardtops, ride like a dream,  and cost about the same?  Take a look-see,  then leave a comment on her blog and let her know what you think!

PS.. aren't you proud of her for resisting that whole "hard" "top" thing!?!

Random Acts of Kindness

Miss G was the recipient of a random act of kindness this weekend,  and it just made her feel so good!  Out in blogland, abelman666 apparently entertains herself on lazy Sunday mornings by looking up random blogs and reading through them.  She happened along here and left a comment telling  how much she loved it!  It made me feel SOOO good that someone I don't even know appreciates what I do and how I do it! She commented that she has been disappointed by her random blog searches as of late,  but she enjoye mine! We don't know yet whether she will become a regular reader of TFBOMGG, but at least she caught up with us once! Ain't the internet amazing?! Now Miss G owes the cosmos a random act of kindness,  but that shouldn't be hard for her to pull off!

Shifting gears,  here's a pic from Saturday night of Miss G with King and Queen Olympus,  taken at the ERICSS Investitures event.  It was great to see them out together enjoying their reign!

This week is a special week for Miss G.  Does anyone know why?

The Kids join Kirsty and Valerie on Jenni Craig!

"These cats are obese" according to Dr. McB at Neartown Animal Clinic.  "You've got to get some weight off of them in order for them to stay happy and healthy". So,we called 1-800-GO-JENNI and now Shelby and Jackson are on a slimming regimen.  They aren't very happy about it,  especially around snack time when instead of getting a pile of delicious little green fishes (they LOVE Feline Greenies!) they get one sad brown vitamin.  And the new food looks more like beige rabbit poop than they yummy morsels they are used to. "Animals adapt" acording to the good Dr.  We will see.  Now if Miss G can only find a slimming regimen that will work for her!

Not much else is new around Chez Ginger. It was too rainy for gardening this weekend so I have no pics of that to show.  Miss Tony kept me out too late Friday night,  so Saturday was kind of a waste.  Miss G's feeling so so this morning after a long night of Investitures, but she's off to breakfast in a few minutes with Mom and Dad and the gang.  A pile of greasy mexican eggs and beans should be just what the doctor ordered.  Okay, maybe the doctor wouldn't approve.  But it will make Miss Ginger feel a whole lot better!  Love to all!

Valentine's Eve

At the risk of sounding bitter,  Miss G has never been big on Valentine's Day.  It's usually on a school night,  it's all revolves around red and pink (not Ginger's best colors),  and it requires sort of contrived,  specific interaction with only one person.  Not really much of a party, so accordingly Miss G usually has a quiet night at home and rests up for the weekend!

This weekend is Investitures for ERSICSS, which is always an interesting event.  This is the event where Kimberly and Bob, the new Empress and Emperor of the realm,  invest titles among the various members of their court and entourage. Many of the titles are tongue-in-cheek reminders of past embarassing events,  some are a bit sappy and sentimental,  and some can just be kind of dumb.  But most importantly,  it is also the event where Kimberly and Bob will reveal the charities they have selected as beneficiaries of their reign.  Miss G will be in attendance along with her able escort Sonna, but they won't be performing,  since she's really low on the totem pole with that group and probably wouldn't get onstage until around 1am.  Way past Ginger's bedtime!

Not much else going on this weekend.  Hopefully some time for gardening and chores!  Hope the weather stays pretty!

No Grammys for Miss G

Well,  Miss G didn't win any Grammys last night so she didn't even watch.  She knew that Amy Winehouse chick was gonna win everything anyway.  Plus, Miss G was exhausted from such a busy weekend!

Saturday, while doing her gardening,  Miss G started to prune an old redbud tree that she has always hated. So off she goes to Lowe's and comes back with a chainsaw to chop it down.  Only it takes a really long time for one drag queen to chop down a tree by herself,  so it's only half chopped down.  The rest of it will be on the list for next weeks gardening!

Sunday,  Miss G attended the "Show of Shows" with Sonna.  "Don't knock till you try it",  Momma G always said.  Knock Knock. I tried it.  Knock.  Parts were funny,  parts were offensive,  parts were boring,  and parts were just plain dumb.  I suppose it was highly entertaining to those who relate to all that.  Miss G just doesn't relate,  I guess.  She did see all her favorite drag friends and lots of cute men there, so it wasn't without merit.

After that,  Miss G accompanied Sonna to a speaking engagement at a "Bunnies on the Bayou" (BOTB) fundraiser.  Talk about a lot of handsome men!!!  And she knew lots of people there,  so she was much more in her element!   And free booze!  What's not to like about that????

With a full day of adult beverages down her throat,  Miss G was aweful hungry,  so off they went to Teala's for Miss G's favorite,  Shrimp Diablos. What's not to like about shrimp wrapped in bacon???

Ater that Miss G was beat,  so it was off to bed to saw a few more logs!  Maybe if you're all good and make lots of comments on Miss G's blog,  you'll get to see photos of the chain saw in action next weekend!

Love to all!

TGITh

Tomorrow is Friday!!!!! Yea!!!!   It's LUEY weekend in Houston,  which means Miss G will lay low and not be out in the gropey crowds,  but she does have some good times planned for the weekend!  She actually started the weekend last night with dinner at Boom Boom (a "must go" if you haven't been! Call me- it's 2 blocks away!)  Then we caught the "Tabloid Divas" show at Tony's CP with Lillian, An'Marie, Selena St. John, Marcia, and Regina Dayne.  It's a really cute professional show that's running Wednesday nights so check it out! Tomorrow is "neighborhood happy hour" at In n Out.  Saturday should be be beautiful so I'm planning to garden. (Sorry Sonna,  I'm gonna call you tomorrow and welch on the ptomaine fest at the Ripcord!) Then Sunday, it will be breakfast with "Mom" and "Dad", "Show of Shows" with Sonna (I caved in a agreed to go!) and  a BOTB Party where I'm sure to be the oldest and fattest person there.  So Monday at work I'll be my typical groggy self, wishing I had gotten more rest over the weekend!  But I'll party on while I can, for there will be plenty of time to rest when I can't! I'll post pics if I get any good ones! Love to all!

Happy Lundi Gras!

Today is Lundi Gras,  the Monday before Mardi Gras!  For Miss G,  it's always been the day to rest from the wildness of Mardi Gras weekend,  and prep herself to be able to hold it together for the all day party on Fat Tuesday.  As she's gotten older,  however,  she find that every Monday is Lundi Gras!  Only today,  she's just hoping to catch up from the weekend to make it through the workday tomorrow!

Last night was the first show of Kimberly and Bob's reign over the realm of ERSICSS,  Miss G originally agreed to do one quick number early in the show so she could get out of there and get ready for the week,  but the spirit (spirits?) caught her,  and she stayed for the whole show.  And Wendy's on the way home. It's ShyAnne's Sunday night ritual,  and it's becoming one for Ginger as well!  It was a great show,  and in honor of Mardi Gras Miss G made a mask to use in her number,  which was then auctioned off to the highest bidder to benefit the reign. So here are photos of Miss G with and without the mask.  You decide which way looks better!

The Original FABULOUS Diva!

For those of you who aren't Krewebies (or even some Krewbie Newbies), the Anna Nicole Smith Marshall Memorial award is given each year to the Krewe member who present the most "sick and twisted" costume idea on the ball floor.  This year I am THRILLED to say that yours truly, Miss Ginger Grant/Sister Mary Elephant/Nurse Goodbody won the Anna Nicole!  It has been given a place of honor in the family room and will reside there until next year, when Miss G may or may not win it again! She swears this is the year she's going to do a "pretty" costume!  Time will tell!

Back in the Saddle!

For those of you who have missed her (and you know you have!) Miss Ginger will be back on stage Sunday at the BRB in the first show of the new ERICSS reign!  The show starts at 7pm, so DVR the Super Bowl (you know you only want to watch the commercials anyway!) and come on down to start the season with a bang!  It's Mardi Gras weekend,  so put on your best plastic beads and come down to show your stuff for even more plastic trinkets!

Also, mark your calendars NOW for May 3rd, 2008,  when Mr. and Miss Mint Julep will be serving their namesake libations at the first annual "Run for the Yellow Roses" right here in Houston to celebrate the Kentucky Derby, Texas style!  More details to come,  but there will certainly be a Millionaire's Row,  Mint Juleps, a hat parade,  and the infamous infield!  You won't want to miss it so save the date now and whet your whistle for more details!

There's good news and bad news on the website issue.  The good news is that the computer that holds the software is fixed and working perfectly.  The bad news is that in order to fix it,  Miss Ginger's people (yes, she has people!) had to wipe the hard drive and reformat the disc.  For all you non-techies out there, (unlike Miss G,  who's very chat room savvy!) that means the data is gone from the local drive!  Luckily,  it's all saved on a remote server in HTML,  but some of Miss G's people were idiots and the files are a mess,  so the whole thing will have to be cleaned up before she can even begin to attempt updates.  She's probably going to fire the whole crew and start with a fresh slate and a brand new website,  so look for that in a few weeks!

Miss G's got to find music, costumes,  and routines for Sunday's performance,  so that's all the time she has for tonight!  See you Sunday,  and until then:  love to all!
