Miss Ginger is up early today to get a big ole piece of meat ready for the Krewe Appreciation Party this afternoon at Chances. It starts at one, so our girl had to get up early to get that bisket on the grill so it will be cooked in time! The appreciation party is where the Krewe recognizes all of the people who supported us throughout the year with Certificates of Appreciation, and makes Honorary Members of the most consistently supportive friends of the Krewe. It's officially the last event associated with the prior reign and Ball Captain, and it's also where we reveal to the public the new Ball Captain and Board of Directors for the coming year. Our own Miss Ginger Grant will be introduced today as Vice-President, and she is truly honored to be trusted with the role. As with any organization there's always politics and personalities galore, but we have a real good board this year who can be forward looking enough to maintain our fiscal existence and respectful enough to maintain our traditions, customs, and standing in the community.
Of course, taking on the volunteer role of Vice-President is going to tax the time management skills of poor Miss Ginger, who already has a crazy day job and a demanding performance schedule. She's taken on a personal assitant to help with most of the office tasks, to keep her free for her public appearances and comunity relations. Here's Miss Shelby at her desk in the office on her first day at work, trying to get settled in and making herself comfortable in the new job. As you can see, she appears to be thrilled with this new career opportunity and is eager to make a good impression! Onboarding always takes a while, but she'll be a great help to Miss G, for sure!
