Here's the pic!

So, thanks to "Dad" here's the pic I promised of Nurse Goodbody, taken backstage just before she went on!  I'll try to post more pics if I get them,  and of course enventually we will get the entire ball onto the Krewe's website,  and at that point I'll post a link for all to follow!

After the Ball!!

Well,  Ball 38 is now just a memory but I have to say Captain Ty and the Krewe pulled off a  great one!  The crowd was wild and that always makes for a great ball!  So everyone knows now that King and Queen are Robert (aka Mona Lot) and Kaylynn,  both well deserved titles!  The KOOTI award (for the most memorable mishap) went to Gary (aka Alicia Allure) for ordering the wrong color dubloons and being too sick to go onstage to present his costume!  Oh, well, at least he's ready for next year!  And yours truly, Miss Ginger Grant, was thrilled to be awarded the Anna Nicole Smith Marshall Memorial Award for the most sick and twisted concept!  Nurse Goodbody was a hit, and as soon as somebody sends me some pictures I'll get them on the blog for you!

And then there was the after ball brunch!  What can I say?? Miss G had waaaaay too much fun at that party!  Annie and her committee had done such a great job organizing the set up that we were ready to start the party 3 hours before it's start time.  So we did! Other than a brief but frustrating technical moment with the VCR (yes,  the ball video was on VHS.  Miss G hasn't played one of those in years!)  the ball video viewing was tons of fun,  and Miss G had way too much champagne!  So instead of watching the King and Queen open presents,  she went up to the dressing room where her kitties were in exile to take a little cat nap with them.  Thank goodness Annie found her and got her into bed or she would have slept on that hardwood floor all night long!  Let's just say Miss G didn't feel too pretty this morning,  and she suspects many other krewe members were kind of hurting as well!  What a fun weekend!  It all came together and I think everyone had a good time,  and that's what it's all about!  Happy Mardi Gras to all!!!

Coundown Continues!

Preparations for the ball continue!! The chorus rehearsals are going great,  and everyone in them seems to appreciate their simplicity!  The opening is especially cute!  You won't want to miss it,  so if you haven't secured an invite yet you'll wanna start sucking up to your favorite krewe member soon!  Bribe them with vodka:  they all love that!

A (of A and MA) came over this weekend to help with glittering and paper mache.  We got a lot of both done,  until we ran out of tape for the paper mache, and then used up all the glitter.  At that point there was nothing left to do but drink and eat,  so we opened a bottle of wine,  sliced a brisket,  and called MA and Mom and Dad and invited them over for dinner!

So I'm off to work today.  Not much will get done until the weekend,  but then I start vacation from my day job on Saturday and can really kick in into high gear!  Meanwhile,  I think I'll take a long lunch today and head to Southern Importers for another 5 pounds of glitter!

Love to all!

Oh My Gawd She's Back!!!

Many of you have asked how Miss Ginger has been,  and have worried that her absence from blogging means the breakup hit her hard.  You're such dears to be concerned, but rest assured,  Miss G is alive and well and working her butt off getting ready for the Krewe of Olympus ball! There's been so much going on... let me see if I can catch you up without boring you to death!

The holidays were awesome!! Miss G and her Bubbas had an awesome,  old timey Christmas complete with the foods their dearly departed Momma always cooked for them.  It was nice for Miss G not to have to work that crazy schedule she usually works around the holidays,  and she even took a week of vacation just as the New Year started.  She got the garage (workshop) all cleaned and organized and ready to begin getting the costume together.

But there was lots of time to party as well,  and as the Krewe started the month off with it's First Friday Happy Hour,  she ran into Shyanne and the bunch from ERICSS.  They were doing their last round of shows before their big weekend, which comes right before ours!  Aurora is running for Empress this year, so I hope all our friends in the community will go by and cast their vote this Saturday afternoon at the Legacy Clinic on Westheimer.

The night after the happy hour was our Royal Affair party,  a FABULOUS event dreamed up by Blaine and his fundraising team. The crowd seemed really wowed,  and we even made some money for the Krewe through the silent auction for the masks made by Richard and his pals and partners! The next night was the King Cake party,  where Miss G was so busy distributing invitations with the rest of the Lieutenants that she never even got a piece of cake!  No cake = no baby = no have to bring cake next year,  but it also means Miss G won't get the good luck that finding tha baby brings.  Maybe next year!

Things didn't slow down after the KC party!  This week begins twice weekly rehearsals for the ball choruses,  plus the final countdown to get those elaborate costumes finished!

So,  Ball 38 is right around the corner!  Be really sweet to Miss G and maybe she will scare you up an invite! Love to all!

PS: Sorry the website so terribly needs an upate,  It's kinda time consuming,  and tonight when I went to work on it the laptop that houses it crashed. %$@!!!!  Time to "Dial a Geek", cause Miss G has no time or patience to screw with that right now!  I promise to get to it once the ball is over!
